It's an Improvement

The Astros pick up one hit and one run against the Cubs this afternoon, which is an improvement over Sunday night. Chicago wins 6-1. The Brockett Blog puts the two games into perspective. The Cubs magic number is down to six.

The Astros should have forfieted the games helped with relief efforts in Houston. This was a gut punch to their surprising wildcard run.

Sickening that Selig forced this on them. They could have played in Round Rock if need be, but Selig shut that down. He should be removed for this. This is worse than the All Star mess.

I am not posting this to take a swipe at Cubs fans as I am sure there are many who did not boo. Rather, I think Drayton McLane deserves as much blame for dawdling with hope that they could still play in Houston. He could have had the team out of town earlier, like say in San Antonio, until they worked things out. (Or just play the games in Chicago, and stop all this neutral site junk.)

I love this from Brian McTaggart of the Houston Chronicle...."Let me get this straight. Houston is ravaged by a hurricane and without power and ways to communicate. The Astros have to convene at Minute Maid Park early in the morning Sunday and navigate through the damage to fly to Milwaukee to play a "home" game against the Chicago Cubs. It was a stressful time for the Astros, whose homes were damaged, who had to leave their families behind and in the dark while wondering about the well-being of friends and relatives.

So what do Cubs fans do when the Astros take the field at Miller Park? They boo them. Nice going, Cubs fans."

To make it even worse the Astros are on the road until the 21st brfore getting a chance to return home and have an off day on the 22nd.

Jeez! The next time I hear Drayton McLane or Selig
talk about baseball and its role in the community or anything like that I'll know they are as honest as Satan slithering in an apple tree. (Yes, I already knew in the back of my mind.)
