Wood vs. Pujols

The Cubs/Cardinals comes down to Kerry Wood facing Albert Pujols with two on and two out, the Cards down by one. Wood falls behind in the count, but gets Albert to pop out to shallow center, and the Cubs win 3-2. A bad base running play cost St. Louis in the inning. Brendan Ryan led off with a double, and when the Cubs tried to get him at third on a bunt, he beat the throw. He over-slid the bag, however, and made the first out. First and third with none out would give the Cardinals a much better chance of tying the game, especially since the next batter singled.

Pujols did drive in a run earlier, giving him 100 on the season. He joins Ted Williams and Al Simmons as the only players do accomplish the feat in their first eight seasons.
