No Mention
The Detroit Free Press makes no mention of Sheffield hitting major league home run 250,000.
Update: The San Francisco Chronicle mentioned it prominently.

Well it took mlb.com forever to put up a story about it, so maybe DFP is going to put something out later. As of midnight this morning, MLB.com only had a story about how Sheff hit his 496th HR and could hit his 500th this year. Which surprised me....the blogosphere is more on top of the news than the league's site. I really don't think that MLB knew about it until after the fact, which the baseball blogs and BR were on it days ago. Anyway, this morning, there's finally something about 250,000 at MLB.
With all due respect to the folks who have been tracking this event, this just doesn't resonate with me, and I'm a stat freak. It has all the substance of someone winning a refrigerator for being the 1,000,000th customer.
No doubt it was going to be hit, so it really means nothing. Celebrate just because it's a round number?
