Stretching Sabathia

CC Sabathia goes 8-0 with the Brewers as the Astros fall 9-3. The big lefty picks up his fifth complete game since joining Milwaukee, throwing 130 pitches. Some people have suggested to me the Brewers are abusing CC with all the complete games, but his pitch counts before tonight were not outrageous. Tonight, however, makes me believe that a little more. With a 9-3 lead, why is he even out there for the ninth? While I love pitchers who finish what they start, in a blow out, give it to the pen. If the Brewers do make the playoffs, they don't want CC to wear out like he did against the Red Sox in 2007.

Did CC really "wear out...against the Red Sox" or did he crumble under the pressure? A lot of Cleveland fans, who have watched CC perform in a similar fashion in "big" games throughout his career (like nearly every time he pitched in his hometown, Oakland), believe it was the latter.

Since he's a rental, it's not like the Brewers have any worry about his long-term health.

Ned Yost was just pacing in the dugout, gritting his teeth. Letting CC complete that game was pure madness. All because they don't have a bull pen they can trust, which is why they may have trouble down the road.

Not sure if CC is doing all these complete games for the Brewers or for a new contract, but I sure hope his arm doesn't get injured doing all this.

DO me a favor.. when you post at Metsblog make sure you know wtf your talking about. Your grammar is horrible. You post the wrong name for players. You suck.

My goodness, that last commenter there is angry.
Anyway, I'd have to disagree with Zippercat. Despite his struggles, if I had had to pick a pitcher for the Indians in a big game the past couple of years, I'd have gone with C.C. in a heartbeat.

And I think that really, aside from earning the merest of nasty comments, there isn't really anything standing in the way of the Brewers doing exactly that. They traded away quality to get their hands on an ace pitcher for half of a season. If they don't run him to the wall, they're silly. As a pretty big C.C. fan (yes, another Indian fan posting here), I'd hate to see it, but logically, they have no real reason to coddle him.

Someone criticizing others' grammar shouldn't misuse "your" for "you're".
