Double Bay
Jason Bay keeps up his hot hitting, going 4 for 5 with two doubles tonight as the Red Sox beat the Royals 8-2. The doubles bring Bay's full season total to 25, equally his level of 2007. Bay holds a .520 OBA and a .762 slugging percentage since joining Boston.
J.D. Drew batted leadoff. He doubled and drew two walks, but did not score a run. Still, I like that move as Drew's ability to get on base works well as long as Ortiz, Youkilis and Bay form a powerful heart of the order.

One of the doubles was hilarious. Bay hit a towering fly ball to the wall in left-center. The centerfielder jumped and got a glove on the ball, but it rolled away...along the top of the fence. Must have rolled a dozen feet along the top of the wall before the leftfielder swatted it back into the park.
It was a little reminiscent of the Damon play at Yankee Stadium earlier this year. But this time the ball rolled even further along the top of the fence, and there were two fielders involved. Bay came that close to a three-run homer, but he later scored, anyway.
