Guillen Not Happy

Don't I write this post every year? Jose Guillen is not happy with his situation:

Left fielder Jose Guillen wants out of Kansas City pronto, according to a source who spoke to ESPNdeportes.com on condition of anonymity.

Guillen feels the Royals have not kept the promises made when he signed for three years and $36 million during the offseason, said the source. But the main reason he is in "living hell in Kansas City" is a foul relationship with manager Trey Hillman.

"Guillen and Hillman are not on speaking terms, they don't talk," said the source. "Guillen is definitely not happy, he's not comfortable and he would do anything he can in economic terms to ease his way out of Kansas City."

Would either side do Jose Guillen for Manny Ramirez straight up?

I would certainly hope the Red Sox would extort just a little something besides Guillen's ridiculously poor .287 OBP. Ugh.

If I were Boston I'd have to take a pass on that one.

Kansas City might if they didn't have to decline Manny's next two options. $20M/yr is not that much of an overpayment assuming Manny doesn't revert to 2007 form.

Of course, the Royals contending in the next two years doesn't seem that likely. If they didn't, though, they could flip Manny at the deadline next year and almost certainly get something better than Jose Guillen, so they should probably do it.

Wait, does *anybody* really think Manny would accept that trade?? Really?

I would love to get a list of Manny's trade demands. He clearly doesn't care about winning another ring at this point or he would suck it up and stay. When is the last time he said anything about winning actual baseball games. I think he would have no problem playing in KC (or on any other small market team) if they gave him the $$ and people would "leave him alone". I think he is delusional to think he is going to get a $100 mil contract. LAD= salary freeze, NYM=owner wont sign off, Yanks=who knows, The rest of the league= doesn't want/can't afford him.

My favorite part about all this is that he has final say. Theo make work on a deal without sleeping for the last week and Manny gets final cut.

In the end...he finishes his career in Boston and stops taking negotiating tips from Pedro.

Huh? Are you serious?

There is absolutely no way the Red Sox would do that.
