Delgado Double

Carlos Delgado delivers a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the eighth to give the Mets a 3-1 lead. Both Moyer and Perez pitched great games, Moyer allowing just one run over seven innings, Perez striking out 12 in 7 2/3 before loading the bases and yielding to Aaron Heilman.

The hit give Carlos 16 RBI in 20 July games. He also ended the inning trying to make third base on the hit.

Nice game and series win, they gave the effort required after Friday's collapse. That was not seen in a Randolph managed team since 2006.

Isn't the big reason the Mets are winning now vs. when Randolph was managing is Delgardo is having a great month. The effort Monday vs. today is I believe the same.A better result from the pen was the ansewer.I suppose the Yanks are giving a better effort now as well.

Yes Fred, but Delgado and Reyes among others had long since quit on Willie. During 2007 Randolph lost the Hispanic contingent in the clubhouse and poisoned his relationship with the media. This year he burned the Owner as well. Same players, just more of them trying now. The pathetic reality of hired gun sports.

If Reyes quit on willie, it's strange that he started playing better a good 6 weeks before Willie was fired. And I think Delgado's rejuvenation has more to do with better pitch selection than Randolph's removal from the team.

Sorry, but the idea that this team just quit on Randolph and that's the reason they are playing better now is pure malarky.

You watching the games? And everyone has confirmed they quit, players and front office off the record down to the daily media.
