Wolf in the Fold
Beyond the Boxscore analyzes the deal that sends Randy Wolf to the Astros:
I suppose my only problem with Houston's part of this deal is why? The price isn't too great, but being double digits back doesn't, nor should it, inspire an all ready aging ballclub to add a soon to be leaving piece.
I does seem like a useless move, unless they think they can sign Wolf, or Wade is hoping to get a draft pick for the free-agent loss.

Ed Wade drafted Wolf in Philly, so perhaps he is hoping to leverage that into signing Wolf. Outside of that I can't see any reason why Houston isn't on the other side of these types of deals.
This one is an easy answer. Ed Wade's going for it all. You guys don't realize how good of a GM Eddie is. He learned me a lot when he created the all-powerful Phillies team earlier this decade and I was his assistant. The Astros are only in 6th place right now, it's not that they're in last place you know. That's not that far back. I remember back in 2000 we were in 5th place and we were going for it. We fell a little short though. He traded Curt Schilling who was on his last leg and was ready to blow his arm out. We got 4 players back!
I can't wait until I become the GM of the Phillies this Fall and me and Eddie can make trades together. We used to do it all the time in our fantasy leagues.
