With two out in the bottom of the eighth, Hurdle replaces Brian Wilson with Billy Wagner. Sizemore singles and gets the first meaningful steal of the night for the AL. Longoria follows with a ground rule double to tie the game. Without the steal, Grady only gets to third. Wagner gets the blown save, and we go to the ninth tied at three.

clint hurdle; bonehead move to put in wagner

bonehead move to put in wagner. Brian Wilson was doing fine.

then again, hurdle made stupid mistakes filling out his roster. He overlooked Pat Burrell and JD Durbin in favor of lesser players and thus got caught short in extra innings.

Hurdle may have been a genius last year for getting the rockies into the playoffs last year, but this year he's coming off as an overmanaging idiot.

he really got shown up on national tv as a bonehead.

wagner is not a setup guy and he can't hold runners on base, and you don't let him face a right handed all star hitter with a man on first or second with the game on the line. hurdle should have made another change there. duh.

nl should have won, but hurdle and wagner snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

the rockies and mets suck. Willie Randolph should be followed soon by Hurdle in the fired column.
