Still No Calls
According to his agent, Barry Bonds is willing to essentially play for free, but no one is interested.
Update: It seems Barry Bonds's agent never called the Royals.
Man I wish the Rays would sign him. It would solve so many of their problems.
This is good news. Bonds deserves to look pathetically in on the game from the outside.
Whoever breaks his record should have an asterisk next to his name.
Easy to make Bonds' agent back down if he's lying. Any GM in the majors could hold a press conference and say, "I'll reserve a first-class plane ticket for Bonds to my city to come and sign a contract at MLB minimum--it'll be waiting at the airport closest to his house. Come on by, Barry." Until someone does that, I'm sticking to my belief that Bud the Spud is enforcing an embargo on all things Barry.
If you repeatedly state in the mainstream media that Bonds is willing to sign anywhere for the minimum salary, you don't have to then individually call all 30 GM's - they know he's available. Thus I see both sides are telling the truth, But Moore is being a bit disingenuous
