Darkened Offense
The Tampa Bay Rays fall to the Indians 5-0 as Cliff Lee pitches six shutout innings. He lowers his ERA to 2.31. The Rays spread out their eight hits, getting one each in innings two through nine. They've now lost five in a row, scoring just seven runs in the five games. They've also been shut out twice. Luckily for them, both Boston and New York lost tonight.
The offense is horrible. They're something like 2-40+ with RISP during their losing streak.
rays leaking oil very badly. looks like the beginning of the end for them.
They've got some injuries that are hurting them now. They're still getting good starting pitching and they've got a really easy schedule for about the next month. Plus no one else in the division is playing particularly well.
It is not so easy a schedule when you factor in road games where they like the Sox struggle.Tampa's potential problems lurk with those young pitchers getting to the 200 inning mark & over. That is when their lack of offense will stand out.
