Take it to the Bankston

Oakland recently called up Wes Bankston to play first base. He went 2 for 3 Monday night including his first major league home run. The shot tied the game at three as the Athletics went on to a 4-3 win over the Mariners. Bankston is 9 for 23 in his six games with four extra-base hits. So far, his major league career has been much more impressive than his minor league career.

A couple years ago he was expected to be the Rays everyday 1B by now. He looked very good in the pitcher friendly Southern League. Then the Rays moved him to 3B in an attempt to fill an need and he regressed significantly offensively. As a Rays fan, I'm rooting for him to do well. He's a guy we gave up on, but has a lot of talent. Great Raw power that hasn't always translated to the game. Best of luck Wes!
