Was going to put this comment under the "Low Scoring Sunday" note, but didn't want to get buried under the spam. There were only 15 games yesterday, so the average was really just over seven runs a game. Still extremely low scoring by any standard.

This year will probably be the lowest scoring since 1992. Everybody will point to steroids testing, but they've been testing for many years now, and it didn't do much to lower offense before. As recently as 2006 the majors averaged 9.71 runs per game, robust by any standard.

I think the ball has been deadened, at least a little, accounting for the decade-low .409 overall SLG for the majors. Baseball probably figures they don't need the big scoring anymore, having recovered completely from the 1994 disaster.

But let's not get too worked up. This year is averaging 9.02 runs per game, actually a little above the average season since the AL started in 1901. We've essentially gone from a high-offense era to more or less average offense. It just seems like scoring has fallen a lot because we've gotten spoiled by all the action.
