Announcer Penalty

The Fenway announcer just introduced Tampa Bay as the Devil Rays. I'm sure the visitors will charge him for that.

Maybe Boston's trying to jinx them. But somebody needs to fine MLB for calling them the Devil Rays in official team stats listings too. Although, very wierdly, on the main team stats page, it just calls them Tampa Bay Rays. I find the whole issue hilarious.

At the Orioles game on Sunday, they showed the highlights of the White Sox/Tampa Bay game on the video board. They used the old logo and called them the Devil Rays.

Perhaps not everyone got the memo?

And did Beckham wear a Devil Rays cap today during the draft?

The Yankees were called the Highlanders for the first few years of their existance. The name change seemed to have worked with them. I don't see any reason why the Rays shouldn't be accomodated with this.

The Rangers TV announcers fine each other a dime every time one of them says "Devil Rays". The fines go to a turkey sandwich fund.

Casey,

It's hard to find a tv crew better than Josh and Tom, isn't it?
