Blown Ninth

John Smoltz enters the ninth to preserve a 4-3 Braves lead, and allows three hits and two runs. That sets up Gregg for the save. He pitches a hitless ninth, but walks two and throws a wild pitch to tie the game. The Marlins and Braves go to extra innings.

Update: Escobar hits a two-run homer in the bottom of the tenth to give the Braves a 7-5 victory. Chipper goes 2 for 4 to raise his batting average to .407.
