Going to Eleven

Ben Sheets throws a complete game walking none while striking out six. He allowed one run despite giving up eleven hits. Even more amazing, the only run came on a solo home run!

Sheets spread the Pirates hits out over the whole game. There was only one inning in which the Pirates did not pick up a safety, and only one inning with two men on base at once. One runner was removed by a double play, and one hit came after the home run. So despite all the hits, Sheets was never really in trouble.

He did throw 123 pitches, which seems like a lot for someone recently injured, but Milwaukee takes over fourth place by themselves as they defeat the Pirates 4-1.
