Bad Penny

The Reds score four times off Brad Penny in the first three innings to take a 4-0 lead over Los Angeles. Through three innings, Penny's ERA sits at 5.46. With six hits allowed tonight, he's allowed 67 hits in 56 innings, good for a .303 opposition batting average. For his career, he's only allowed a .264 average.

It all worked out for the forces of good. The Dodgers got five singles in a row in the middle innings good for three runs to tie the game at 5, and in the bottom of the ninth the rookie 3B DeWitt came up with the bases loaded for the sixth time this year and got a base hit for the sixth time in those circumstances.
