No Run Indians
For the fifth game in a row, the Indians did not allow a run in the first nine innings of the game. C.C. Sabathia shutout the Oakland Athletics 2-0. He allowed five hits and two walks while striking out eleven. Whatever problem Milliliter had earlier in the season is gone now.
It seems the Indians pitchers are taking this team on their back. If you get them one run, they can get you a win.
As the A's continue to slip, pitchers are discovering that as long as they put the ball in the strike zone, Oakland can't do much damage. Keep their walks low, and you keep the Athletics from scoring.

Any hurler in the junior circuit is looking like Cy Young lately. For the second straight night the AL failed to score even six runs a game. Any more of this, er, excitement, and they may have to start passing out pillows at AL tilts.
Meanwhile, the DH-less NL continues its robust offensive ways. Last night the league averaged ten runs a game - high by any standard. It's not surprising that I end up spending most of my Extra Innings time on the NL. At least stuff happens in their games.
The easy explanation for the sputtering AL offenses is drug testing. But last I checked, they test both leagues the same. The continuing and inexplaicable divergence between the two leagues makes the upcoming interleague weekend even more interesting than usual.
