Trouble for Nathan
Joe Nathan is trying to hold a three-run lead in the top of the ninth. He got Ortiz leading off the inning, but two singles and a double plate a run and put the tying runs in scoring position. Crisp is up with Manny on deck to pinch hit.
Update: Crisp hits a hard line drive back at Nathan. It deflects off his glove toward shortstop. Nathan picked up the ball, unable to get Crisp at first, and throws out Drew heading to third. Drew had to hold up because there was a chance Nathan would catch the liner.
Lowell scores on the play to make it a one-run game. Crisp runs right away and steals second with Manny at the plate. They're not walking Ramirez.
Update: Manny grounds out to short to end the game. That's why a three run save is considered easy. If Nathan had a one or two run lead, he blows the save.
