Moyer Done?

Jamie Moyer pitched very poorly today. He lasted just four innings, allowing two homers and six runs. This came against the Giants, the second worst offense in the majors.

His ERA rises to 5.02, but what's worrisome is that he's no longer going very deep in games. The two seasons Moyer averaged over six innings per start; this year he's barely over five, with 43 innings in eight starts. His high ERA puts the Phillies puts pressure on the offense, but his low innings pitched now also puts pressure on the bullpen. He's not doing a lot to help the Phillies win at this point.

He's not done. Half of his starts have been 6+ innings and he's pitched into the 6th another time. I think sample size is a bit of an issue.

Also, how many 5th starters go deep into games? Most teams just need someone to go through 5 or 6 innings... if the do more than that, it's gravy.

What I want to know is if Adam Eaton is done. He's not going deep into games and his ERA is almost 6. Is Bronson Arroyo done? How about Ted Lilly and his 5.24 ERA and allergy to pitching in the 8th?

At least with Moyer, they know what they are getting. They're getting a 45 year old pitcher who isn't going to be great every day. Next game I bet he goes 7 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Kinda like his May 5th start.

phils starting pitching is awful. their bullpen and offense (other than howard) is keeping them afloat so far. that cant last forever.
