Wrist Watch

Vernon Wells broke his wrist Friday night:

With a runner on first base, Cleveland's Franklin Gutierrez hit a fly ball to shallow right-center. Wells raced in and caught the ball inches above the ground, then rolled over twice and remained in a kneeling position.

The center fielder got to his feet, but remained bent at the waist with his right hand holding his right thigh as head trainer George Poulis came out to attend to him. Wells walked back to the dugout.

He'll be out six to eight weeks, but it always seems it takes a few weeks after a hitter returns from a wrist injury to get his stroke back.

I'm trying to figure out what brand of crystal ball JP Riccardi is using. He picks up Mench and Wilkerson the day of Wells' injury. Jeremy Accardo went down with forearm tightness and has lead to Armando Benitez being called up.

The Jays do have depth for a position player to go down. Starters on the other hand... Josh Banks and David Purcey are the only AAA starters worth a look if the need arises. There's an outside chance Brett Cecil gets a call up from AA for a spot start. He's about a year away from the bigs.

Aside, it's always fun when Halladay, Marcum, McGowan, and Litsch are all outperforming Burnett.
