Streak Over

Despite improving his control, A.J. Burnett still gave up five runs in six innings. That ends the Blue Jays starters streak of nine quality starts.

By the way, I'm not a huge fan of quality starts, but these were, you might say, high quality. The Rays lead the Jays 5-4 in the top of the seventh.

It has to fuel the 'he's a .500 pitcher' fire... he had a bloop fall in and his control disappears. His curve was fantastic tonight but made some mistakes that got hit hard. Hinske hit a massive HR off Windows Restaurant in CF... it's usually hit once or twice a year. Last year, Wily Mo Pena was the only player to hit it.

The really frustrating part was Eckstien left with a pulled groin and then John McDonald rolled his ankle and had to get carted off 2 innings later. Bad day for Blue Jays short stops.
