Leyland Punts Lineup

After promising us a lineup shakeup, Leyland did very little.

Catcher Ivan Rodriguez is now hitting in the ninth spot.

Third baseman Carlos Guillen is now hitting third and new leftfielder Gary Sheffield is in the six-hole for tonight's game against the Red Sox at Comerica Park.

La-di freakin' da. The biggest move is that Jacque Jones days as a Tiger are near an end as they team designated him for assignment.

That was my take as well. Talk about a big buildup for nothing. Makes the team better, I'm sure, but I was looking for actual, you know, "drastic" changes. Unless you're Jacque Jones, nothing much drastic happened Monday.

For a button-pushing, play it by the book (his) manager like Leyland, this is very drastic.

Shef in left? Doesn't this put his shoulder at even greater risk? Or, does this indicated that Barry Bonds is on his way to the Motor City?

I'm still unclear why everything thinks Bonds is going anywhere. I think unless he's offered a Clemens like deal he's staying home.
