No Laff-E Matter

Gil Meche and Aaron Laffey pitched about as evenly as two starters can this afternoon. Both completed seven innings, allowing four hits. Laffey walked two and struck out five while Meche did not issue a base on balls while striking out four. Neither allowed an earned run. Laffey's defense made an error at a cruical moment, however, which led to an unearned run against Aaron. That was enough, as the Royals bullpen held Cleveland scoreless and the Royals took the game 2-0.

The Indians have scored two runs or less in five of their last seven games. Not surprisingly, they lost those five. There's a real spilt in the lineup, as five are hitting well and five are hitting terribly over this stretch.
