Putz Free Passes
Richie Sexson homered in the top of the tenth to give Seattle a 2-1 lead over the Indians. J.J. Putz, however, just gave the run back. He struck out Hafner to start the inning, but the next four Indians reached on two singles and two walks, the last to Sizemore that forces in a run. Putz has now walked six in less than five innings this season, not good numbers for a closer.
Update: Putz strikes out the last two batters in the inning. Like a Spinal Tap guitar, this one is going to eleven.
Update: In the bottom of the eleventh, the Indians once again load the bases with one out. After their third straight K with the bases loaded, Cabrera delivers a single to win the game for the tribe 3-2. They are now tied in games back for second place in the AL Central, percentage points behind the Twins.
