Which begs the question.... what is a GM's real job description? -- Making wealth or a winning team? Of course, a winning team usually translates to more revenue.... but if they can't create a winner, are they really doing their job?

I wonder what the owner thinks of spending $126 million where $300k a year would do. Zito is no better than a replacement minor leaguer; the team would be just as good without him.

The Giants have little impact on baseball as a whole, but baseball as a whole has a huge impact on the Giants revenue.

The senior management of the Gians created the wealth via the stadium deal - give credit to Larry Baer and some to Peter Magowan.
