Roger "hero of the Republicans" Clemens. Now we see why.
Which affair? The one the Iteam described Monday as being a 10 year affair that started when she was 15 (and would mean statutory rape) or the one the woman describes as starting after 18 in their Tuesday story?
Either way, I fell I will take a shower. This is gutter reporting
Perhaps it would be a great idea to hire numerous detectives to follow sports reporters to tell us what they do on the road?
Most sports reporters can only dream about such thongs. I really doubt that Bill Plaske, for instance, has to fight off 18-year-old groupies.
And not to get political, but wouldn't Clemens be a better fit for Bill Clinton's party? How old was Monica?
Anyhoo, the Clemens-McNamee trial, if it ever happens, should be fun. McNamee's lawyer: I'll see your rape allegations and raise you one country singer.
Yes, I really worte "thongs" instead of "things." Dr. Freud, call home.
Casey, you might *think* Clemens' antics would "be a better fit for Bill Clinton's party", but we know for a fact which side of the aisle supports him. Or, didn't you watch the testimony?
I know that in politics, many people take the attitude that if the evidence doesn't fit the preferred spin, damn the evidence. But I'm pretty sure you aren't one of those...
Oops, misspelled "wrote". Sometimes a cigar is only a cigar, and a misspelling is only a misspelling.
But "thongs" instead of "things" really was a classic Freudian slip. I was thinking about Monica (yikes!) and how various reporters wrote that she was snapping her thong at Bill. Shows what a gutter mind I have.
Casey - you would be surprised what used to happen on the road. We have now reached a point where players and reporters are no longer as friendly as they were in the past and all were part of the antics that occured on the road.
And don't forget that illegal drugs were used when McNamee was found having sex in that Florida pool, which can be used in any trial as it relates directly to PED's
Yes, yes, we all "know" that Roger is a liar. But we also know that bimbo drug addict z-list celebrities will say/do anything to try to get back up onto the c-list. I don't know if she can sing, but she knows how to get publicity when she needs it. If you want to weigh in on his guilt/innocence, vote in this Such a Cheater poll: http://www.suchacheater.com/roger-clemens-cheated-with-mindy-mccready/196/
Well, to end the political arguments altogther, I'm not convinced on the steroids charges against Clemens, either. But come on, sex between an older male celebrity and a young star-struck girl? It's not hard to think about a certain ex-President in that connection, regardless of your political views.
As for what happens on the road, I still don't think that the Bill Plaschkes (sorry for the previous misspelling) and Woody Paiges of the world are fighting their way through mobs of thong-snapping groupies.
Everybody lies about sex, it's no big deal. Or at least that was the phrase about a decade ago.
Personally, I don't care one whit about this, though I gotta say Clemens could do a lot better than Mindy.
She was really cute before she became a washed up druggie
By the way, while we're on the elevating subject of players and writers and their antics on the road, and just to prove what a filthy mind I have, I'm reminded of the funniest story in Boys of Summer. The interesting saga concerns Roger Kahn, the book's author and then Dodger beat writer, and Dick Williams, then backup outfielder for the Dodgers and later a HOF-enshrined manager.
Those who have read the book will know immediately what I'm talking about. And for those who haven't read the book...well, this is a family website and I can't go into details. But they're worth a look for mature readers.
Lewinsky was 23, McCready 15. (It's been 15 in every version of their story I can find...) Big difference there.
Anyway I fail to see how this is unworthy of a story. As many others have written elsewhere, Clemens' defense was essentially "I'm Roger Clemens. I'm a good guy. McNamee is a scumbag and he's lying and I'm not." Well, this makes Roger out to be less then Father and Husband of the Year, now doesn't it?
Gutter reporting would be following A-Rod around, snapping pictures of him and various manly-looking women. Serves no real purpose except to fill the gossip column; the same can be said for coverage of most other athletes' personal lives. But this, in my opinion, was something Clemens asked for and deserved for running the kind of defense he's run.
Other josh, from what I've read about her admission, the sex part didn't start at 15.
Not to say ballplayers don't go after 15 y.o., just ask Luis Polonia.
Not to quibble, though it's fun to quibble about this stuff, but Monica Lewinsky was 22 when the affair with Bill Clinton began. Is there a gigantic difference between 18 and 22? Oh, the legal drinking age maybe. It's been so long since I was either age that I have a tough time remembering (sigh).
But come on, folks, an older celebrity guy and a young groupie girl in an extramarital relationship will always bring Bill and Monica to mind. Let's just get used to it. I don't intend any heavy-duty political commentary here.
This like all of Clemens recent issues are a bunch of who knows what the real story is.
Is Clemens telling the truth about steroids or other supplements, or is Pettitte or is McNamee? Probably none of them are telling the exact truth.
Same goes for doing this broad. Was she 15, 16, 17, did he jump her at her 18th birthday party? We will never know for sure. And who cares?
Saying I don't care about the details does not mean it has no relevance on his case. People are getting confused about the cases. This singer has no bearing on his potential criminal case for perjury as he was not under oath when he denied hitting it. The civil case is a different matter altogether. Clemens opened this door when he got pissed at McNamee (for talking to the Mitchell investigation) and decided to sue him for defamation of character. The very nature of a proceeding like that requires an examination of one's character. There is some saying about not having a public fight with family. Family knows your dirty laundry. For athletes the locker room is a family.
