This - along with relief guys pitching 50 innings a year and starters going 5-6 innings each turn is one of my pet peeves. If some guy can't pitch more than an inning or can't pitch to guys who hit form the other side of the plate how much are they helping you. The other side of it is the guys who can't pitch 6 innings without throwing 110 pitches and then you have to trot out 4-5 relievers who can't get guys out to finish the game. They don't help your pitching and they screw up your bench. Now in the AL teams have 9 in the lineup, 1 catcher, 1 OF, 1 backup middle infielder and 1 backup corner guy. No platoons, no reserves, no pinch hitters, no third catchers. It's not like pitching is getting better or staying healthier. That's why I loved Brad Komminsk when he was playing.
