Kicking the Blown Save Bug

Jose Valverde picked up his second save in a row. A week ago the Astros fans wanted him out of the closer role, but he's now pitched two scoreless innings as the Astros deny Walt Jocketty a win as general manager, 5-3. Unlike his last save, however, no one reached base and he struck out two. That should put the boo-birds to rest for a while.

With their five game win streak the Astros have clawed back to a (slightly) positive run diff, a W-L record only one game underwater, and a fourth-place standing just 4 1/2 back.

They're hardly buried, despite the Cubs and Cards playing over their heads. I'm not saying Houston will contend, but almost anything could happen in that division.
