Krivsky Creamed

The Reds fired general manager Wayne Krivsky today. I can't say I'm surprised, but I also think he's getting a bit of a raw deal. With the young talent in the Reds pitching staff, and more to come with Homer Bailey, this team was a year and a couple of hitters away from contending. They're not even near the worst team in the NL, let alone the majors. I wonder if there is something deeper than just the performance of the team.

Walt Jocketty takes over. I guess this means the Reds will see more veterans in their last useful season playing for the team.

Hm, if I were Jon Daniels (scary thought) I'd be hearing footsteps right now.

I kinda thought the handwriting was on the wall back when Jocketty was hired.

Jon Daniels is not in any immediate trouble. Ryan has said he likes what Daniels has done in the rebuilding phase, and he and Hicks both have said that the team needs stability at the top for a while and to keep going in this direction. Ron Washington might be gone by the ASB, but Daniels will be here for another year or two at least.

I'm at a loss as to why they didn't just fire Krivsky in January instead of now if they were going to dump him. Seems like a raw deal.

I'd like to see the attitude of the club re-shaped and I hope Walt can do that, because it has a follow on affect for the fans and the city. It'd be great to see the park more than half full, more often.

Either the Rangers start getting better, or at least look like they have some teensy-weensy, itty-bitty hope of getting better, or Daniels is in real trouble. Too many trades have gone south.

And losing 19-6 ain't a real good way of looking like you have some teensy-weensy, itty-bitty hope of getting better.
