Comeback Again

The Red Sox repeated their late inning hitting today, erasing a 5-0 deficit with two runs in the seventh and three runs with two out in the eighth. The Red Sox have four hits with two out in the eighth, and some mental errors allowed Red Sox players to take extra bases. Millwood allowed two runs in six innings, although one scored after he left the game in the seventh. He won't get the win, however, thanks to the bullpen.

Update: Three consecutive walks drive in a run and give the Red Sox a 6-5 lead after eight innings.

Nice seeing Wake go 8, though those 2 bombs hurt.

Checked around the net for comments from the few fans the Rangers have left. Basically, the comments are: fire everybody a.k.a. Daniels and Washington, unload the old guys, and bring up all those minor leaguers who are supposed to be so good.

Sounds exactly like the usual talk about a team in trouble. Only this time, the talk may not be so wrong. The Rangers are going nowhere except last place, anyway. So maybe it's time to dump the vets and start working in the minor league talent that is rated so highly.

Firing Washington and Daniels would just be a distraction that would do little to improve the club. I would quietly give Ryan final authority on baseball decisions and tell him to play for the future.

Bad timing for Coco and the hamstring - having Ellsbury split time with him just hurts the team. I'm guessing when Lowell comes back Lowrie is going back to PawSox but he couldn't be playing much better. Texas seems to have some talent but the pitching isn't strong enough to contend. Maybe they can deal some of their position players for prospects but them and everyone else are looking for pitching that can help now.
