Shoulder Examination

The Indians doctors are taking a look at Joe Borowski's shoulder today:

Joe Borowski doesn't know what's wrong. One day he feels like he can throw the ball through a brick wall.

"The next day, I feel like I'm throwing through water," said Borowski.

Monday night, Borowski should have come to the mound in the ninth inning at Progressive Field wearing scuba gear. Boston, quick to recognize a theme, dunked the Indians closer, turning his 4-3 lead into a 6-4 defeat as Manny Ramirez hit a two-run, two-out homer into the left-field bleachers.

Borowski met with Tribe manager Eric Wedge, General Manager Mark Shapiro and the team's medical staff after the game to discuss the condition of his right arm and shoulder.

I supposed the worst thing for Borowski would be the doctors finding nothing wrong, which means he just stinks.

Update: Juan in the comments properly chides me for using the words stinks. I should have said pitches poorly. I apologize.

Update: Borowski goes on the DL with a strained triceps.

hey, i read your blog daily, probably hourly, i love it, just want to put in my .02 cents on this post:

Every major league player is good, very good, and has spent a lifetime proving themselves, in order to hit the majors.

You're usually very, very good about not saying a player "sucks" "blows" or "stinks," cause i think you agree.

Point is, even Joe Borowski, doesn't "stink."

Thanks

Juan,

Yes, you're correct. I should have send pitches poorly. I apologize.

I take it that Juan hasn't looked at the rotations for the Nationals or the Marlins. I've seen people in stroke recovery who have better control over their arms than those guys.

Not to turn Baseball Musings into an argument on grammar and word usage and such, but "stinks", I think, is just fine. Within the context, the fact that JoeBo (and every other Major Leaguer) possess exception skills is a given. However, placed in the context of his fellow Major League pitchers, Borowski does stink.
