Home Runs Matter
Johnny Cueto out-pitched Tom Gorzelanny in two aspects of the game today. Cueto struck out six and walked one in his six innings of work. Tom walked four and struck out just one over his 6 1/3 innings of work. But Gorzelanny kept the ball in the park, while the Pirates took Johnny deep twice. As the Pirates held the Reds to one extra-base hit on the afternoon, they could absorb the walks. The Pirates took the contest 9-1 and move ahead of Cincinnati in the NL Central standings.
