Power Patterson

Corey Patterson takes Gagne deep with two out in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game at two. Corey only hit eight long balls all last season, but that was his third of the year. He's making Dusty look like a genius.

Gagne blows his second save in three opportunities. He was one strike away from ending the game.

Update: Weeks knocks in the winning run in the bottom of the tenth. The Brewers maintain their lead in the NL Central.

If the evil Brewers play .850 baseball all season, there's no way the cardinals will ever catch up. Sigh. Guess @.750 we'll be shoe-ins for the wild card, though.

What are the odds on Ryan Braun taking a walk in April?

1 thing fersure - the Brewers are going nowhere with Gagme as closer. He lost too much on #1 and he can't get the change over and when he does it's just a batting practice fastball.

Gagne can be effective, as he was in the first half of 2007 with Texas. But he really has to spot the ball now because he has lost so much off the fastball. Not just velocity but movement. He drifts anywhere close to the middle of the plate, and it's just a very straight, very jiucy mediumball.
