Run Turnaround

With the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the third, Vlad Guerrero grounds a ball down the line to Casey Blake. Casey bobbles the ball and has to throw across the diamond, when he just gets Vlad.

Actually, the replay showed pretty clearly that Vlad was safe. That cost the Angels a run, and then Peralta leads off the fourth with a homer. Instead of a possible big inning for the Angels, the Indians lead 1-0.

Update: Again in the fifth, the Angels have the bases loaded with two out but don't score. Carmoma walked the bases loaded with two out, then got Anderson to ground out to end the inning. The Indians still lead 1-0.

Was listening to the Cleveland radio broadcast, and they made a big deal that Guerrero couldn't have been hustling because it took Blake so long to make the play.

Obvious bias, but did anybody see the game? I'm too lazy to hunt through the replay at mlb.tv.

Vlad broke his bat on the play, and didn't start running hard right away. He still beat the throw, anyway.

Yeah, I figured that Guerrero must not have busted it out of the box (the hustle, not the bat). Even the other team's announcers are reluctant to rip a star for not hustling unless they're pretty sure...or unless it's Manny.
