More Over and Under

Squawking Baseball posts NL over and unders for team wins. They predict the Mets take the NL East with the best record in the league, while the Cubs, Dodgers and Phillies all make the playoffs. Unlike the AL, the Mets are the only great team in the league, and there will be the usual dogfight for the other playoff spots.

Interestingly, Squawking Baseball picks eleven teams to beat their win projections, meaning the teams that play under should play very badly.

Or the league will do better than expected, overall, in interleague play.

They pick six (or so) 85+ win teams, eight (or so) .500-or-better teams...

pretty much exactly what the NL had last year...

The Mets are great?!? Coming off the biggest choke job in NY in a couple of years? Let's let them win something first.

Right on Bandit, I mean it's not like they were a swing away from the World Series in 2006. I do not think they are great, but a fair choice for NL chalk? Sure. They choked a commanding lead, hence they had a commanding lead. They added the best pitcher in baseball. I'm skeptical, Beltran, Alou and Castillo are fragile. El Duque and Delgado maybe be done. But they are a logical pick.

So the MLBPA is going to investigate collusion about Barry Bonds and why no one has made an offer to a 43 year old indicted baseball player.

Might it be just that no one wants to take a chance since it is likely he will be in a courtroom more this season than on a baseball field? He and his agent surely will want a guaranteed contract. There are stupid major league owners out there but stupid doesn't mean insane.

How about if MLBPA investigates Bonds himself and cooperates for a change to assist in cleaning up the game!

He won't be in court this year.

That has been discussed many times in this blog, even moreso since the original charges were thrown out.

Not picking a player who projects to have an OPS close to 1 is absolutely absurd and reeks of collusion.
