Albert's Elbow
There's speculation that Albert Pujols needs Tommy John surgery. I agree with Brew Crew Ball on this:
In years past, this would have been cause for some serious schadenfreude, but with the Cardinals unlikely to challenge for the NL Central title this year (Chris Carpenter isn't due back from his TJ surgery until after the All-Star Break), an extended Pujols absence would help the Cubs just as much as it would help the Brewers.
Of course, if Pujols does have the surgery, he might pitch until he's 46. :-)

I don't understand the "pitch until he's 46" joke. Is this another oblique reference to Albert being "older" than he says he is. If it is, shame on you. There has never been even one shred of evidence to indicate that Albert is older than he states. Maybe I'll start a rumor campaign to say that Miguel Cabrera must be older too since he has had such a fantastic start to his career. After all he wasn't born in the states either...who knows how old he is.
I think it's a play on how TJ surgery can extend the longevity of pitchers. But since Pujols is a hitter, it's what is called a "joke".
Nick --
It is often good to hold back rather than being offended by things you don't understand (though you are to be congratulated for admitting that you didn't understand up front).
Its a joke - maybe the surgery will do for Pujols what it did for Tommy John -- allow him to pitch until he's 46.
Thanks for getting it, Capybara.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am sorry for my overreaction.
