Pictures of Evidence

The Smoking Gun has the pictures of McNamee's evidence. Somehow, I don't think this is going to convince anyone.

I can't fathom any other reason why you would have an old crushed beer can laying on your end table next to a bunch of medical garbage and then take a picture of it other than wanted to make people think that you took the picture six years ago instead of last week. This is almost comical.

Man this thing is weird.

Some reports I've heard said McNamee kept the "evidence" in the old beer can. Well that convinces me. Nothing like keeping old used gauze pads in a beer can for 7 years to show that you're evidence is solid.

The admissability or inadmissability or credibility of the evidence is almost irrelevant. The game McNamee's lawyers are playing is to keep Clemens talking, keep him answering questions, make him keep a bunch of stories straight.

If Clemens did in fact give McNamee needles and testosterone for safekeeping, that would explain Clemens's 60 Minutes confession that McNamee shot him up with B12 and lidocaine (and not the Tejada/Bonds "I didn't know it was steroids defense). Clemens knows he needs to explain why McNamee has his needles (which might have his fingerprints on, for instance).

From the ESPN article: "Emery (McNamee's Lawyer) said McNamee kept the items because he "had this inkling and gut feeling that he couldn't trust Roger and better keep something to protect himself in the future."

So McNamee had the foresite to collect evidence that Clemens used steroids seven years ago and this was the best he could do????? He couldn't tape a conversation or anything better than this???? I just don't buy it.

I seem to have a different reaction to this than others do. Of course the physical evidence is virtually worthless, even if it does contain Clemens' dna/fingerprints/teeth marks/betting slips. But to me, the half-assed nature of the evidence seems consistent with the idea it is what McNamee says it is -- something he hung on to with a thought he might need at some time to protect himself against Clemens' attempts to deny things or pin blame on McNamee, and it seems entirely in character that McNamee wouldn't actually follow through enough, or be systematic enough, to actually collect and preserve evidence in usable form or sufficient amounts.

News reports are saying that McNamee testified yesterday that Debbie Clemens used HGH and that McNamee taught her how to give herself the needle.

Thus, either (i) McNamee is an insane pathological liar or (ii) Roger Clemens is screwed. McNamee just opened the perjury trap for Roger's wife.

Reflexive Clemens apologists gonna have IQs in negative numbers soon. The pictures aren't supposed to "convince anyone" Clemens did steroids. Numbskulls.

I'm not surprised that this doesn't convince some people. I'm surprised some people still need convincing.
