Radio ads are running in Miami against government help building a new stadium for the Marlins.

Good! I hope they don't get any govt support.
Even Don Fehr is against public funding of stadia, even though it would leave more cash to spend on players.
MLB's threats remind me of the scene in "Blazing Saddles" when Cleavon Little shows up in Rock Ridge as the new sheriff. He holds a gun to his own head - and the common clay of the new west, you know - morons - fall for it.
As Bud Selig said to Miles Prentice when he tried to buy the Royals, "I got my new stadium, where is yours?"
do not forget that in the recent past george Mitchell (and also Larry Lucchino, George Will, Jim palmer) were part of the lobbying effort for a stadium.
Of course Mitchell was compensated for his work
