Names Appear
Someone just sent me a list of names that are expected to appear in the Mitchell report. There are two names that stand out in my mind that are going to cause some gnashing of teeth, but until the report is official, I'll wait to publish.
Update: Baseball's Steroid Era provides a nice visual time line and a list of players already linked to PEDs. I should also mention there is one other player on the rumor list that will cause some angst among his fans for reasons that will be clear if and when his name appears in the report, but not for the same reason as the two mentioned above.
Update: Deadspin has the same list I do. The names that stick out to me are Varitek, Pujols and Kile. I take this list with a huge grain of salt, however, until Mitchell publishes.
(I had this update in the wrong post before.)
Update: This list turned out to be very poor.

That's like saying. "I know what Santa brought you, but I can't tell ..."
ARRRRRGH!
Deadspin.com has published a list. It may or may not be the actual list though.
there's been a list circulating around since last night on a few sites. I'm not sure if it's the same one, but it has about 70 names or so with a couple of surprises.
DrudgeReport has the list also. Pujols, Clemens, Veritek...then the obvious ones: Sosa, Bonds, etc.
Man...
Is Darryl Kile one of the names that might cause gnashing?
I gnashed a little when I read it on a rumored list.
Pujols, Clemens, Varitek, Sosa, Bonds.....
Why would any of those guys be surprising to anyone??? I actually hope Clemens is prominently on the list so it will make all the hypocrite voters who failed to vote for McGwire and have said they will do the same with Bonds, have to follow suit with Clemens or just leave themselves looking like idiots. (as if there was doubt)
Except that McGwire is a borderline HoF candidate. Besides HRs, what has he done? He was a very one dimensional player and it could be argued that he doesn't belong in the HoF regardless of his steroid use. Clemens, on the other hand, has the stats of one of the best pitchers of all times.
If it's true and Rich Garces is on the list, I'm done with baseball forever. My innocence is lost forever.
Don't worry, I think Garces earned his bulk the old fashioned way: with donuts.
wph: that may be true, but maybe they were PED's (performance enhancing donuts). Ok that was lame, sorry.
Kinda of surprised at Pujols, and even Prior. Or maybe I'm just naive about those two since I'm a big fan of both. That's about it though.
Pleasantly surprised at the number of prominent Sawx heroes apparently on the list. Nom-ah? Trot? Captain Facemask? None of these surprise me, but still . . .
And Jeter's batting career looks better and better what with two of his most prominent rivals, Nom-ah and Tejada on the list (apparently) (now if only he could've fielded his position . . .) Ditto Posada re Pudge and Facemask.
Ok, sorry, "pleasantly surprised" was probably the wrong way to put it, since all of this is unpleasant.
You know what I meant though, what with the suspicions of conflict of interest re the senator . . .
MLB has denied this list is accurate. There are a lot of mis-spellings on it and Glaus is on twice (at least the version I saw).
Jon Heyman at si.com is reporting Tejada, Knoblauch, and Mike Stanton are on the list.
Did NYY have any players who WEREN'T using steroids???
Um yeah Bandit, you can start with Mo. Bernie, Jeter, and Posada and work your way from there.
Tek, Vaughn, Trot, No-mah, Garces, Damon, etc who wasn't juicing in the Fens btw?
Forget Boston and New York, it looks like the center of the steroids world was the Texas Rangers clubhouse!
Thanks, Canseco.
Well jeez - Nomar, Guapo, Trot and Tek aren't on the list - so I guesss you're right YFIC
