Jay to the Bay?

There's talk of the Blue Jays shipping Alex Rios to the Giants for either Lincecum or Cain:

The proposed trade of outfielder Alex Rios for either San Francisco's Matt Cain or Tim Lincecum rests with the Giants' decision-makers, according to major-league sources.

The Toronto Blue Jays will not add major-league pitching to their offer, sources say, and they also are unlikely to move right-hander A.J. Burnett in a separate deal.

Adding Cain or Lincecum while subtracting Burnett would be counter-productive for a team trying to build the best possible rotation to compete with the Red Sox and Yankees in the AL East.

It seems to me that the Giants would be giving up a great deal with either Matt Cain or Tim Lincecum. Rios is very good, but Matt and Tim might turn out to be great. I'd be a bit surprised if a deal went through.

That's who Ken Williams should have traded Garland for.

Giving up Lincecum for Rios? Nutso,

I'm hoping Sabean just has a fish on the line so he's going to tease it until he knows that they won't offer anymore, then decide.

Yeah, Rios is way too low, plus then here is the laugher, in one account it says Toronto wants Cain but that if Lincecum was in the deal instead, they would want another prospect IN ADDITION, because, you know, how great Alex Rios is.

Yeah, good versus great, I don't see Sabean doing the move, all the sfgiants.com accounts note that Sabean is strongly leaning towards saying "no", and hopefully that is so.

I'm with Obsessive' on this one. I hope the Giants don't give Lincecum up, Cain either for that matter. The SJ Merc reported that all the baseball insiders around the the MLB think they would be nuts, but I fear that's what Sabean might be - nuts. The Giants are so desparate to get a bat in their lineup they just might trade one of their diamonds for ruby.
