Kuhn Elected
The veterans committee elected Bowie Kuhn to the Hall of Fame. What a terrible choice, especially since Marvin Miller failed to gain entry. What did Kuhn do besides post-season baseball at night (inevitable) and screwing Charlie Finley? Sorry, that doesn't cut it.
Former Dodgers owner Walter O'Malley, Pirates owner Barney Dreyfuss and managers Dick Williams and Billy Southworth were also elected.
It's nice to see Dick Williams elected. He took Boston to their first World Series in almost thirty years, won the Oakland Athletics their first championship, and the A's franchises' first in over 40 years, and took the Padres tot the World Series for the first time. He was volatile, but a great strategist.

Anybody who screwed (not literally) Charlie Finley is okay with me.
Brooklyn must be seething over the choice of O'Malley. Kuhn just died recently, and there is a history of the Hall putting in some questionable choices soon after their deaths (see Pennock and Maranville).
The HOF puts just about all League Presidents and Commishes in. (Well, maybe not Eckert). Heck, Morgan Bulkeley is in! (Check him out sometime--NOT deserving).
They might as well put up monuments to Hitler and Stalin.
I disagree slightly with the Kuhn choice. However, at least they didn't compound the mistake by putting Miller in as a quid pro quo sort of thing.
"largebill", in what way is Marvin Miller not worth of the Hall of Fame? You can't be limiting it to "people who played and/or managed", since ownership is explicitly allowed.
As far as what he contributed, he essentially defined and forced through the modern meta-game of baseball. If you think the modern environment favors the Yankees (and other high-spending clubs), think about what baseball was like before the reserve clause was challenged!
Morgan Bulkeley can rest in peace now--he's just been replaced as the single least deserving member of the Hall of Fame by Bowie f'ing Kuhn.
Subrata Sircar,
Miller did nothing for the game of baseball. He only affected how the dollars were divided. Great labor negotiator - so put him in the AFL/CIO or Teamsters HoF. Anyone who supports Miller's induction automatically forfeits their right to bitch about the cost of going to a game.
