Common Sense Steinbrenner?
Hank Steinbrenner is actually making sense:
"I think the most important thing is whoever we hire, give 'em a chance because he's not getting the '96 Yankees. He's getting an even younger team or for the most part a team in transition. Give him a little while,'' Hank Steinbrenner said, "We want to win the World Series every year. We're not stupid enough to think we can do it. Of course, we'd love to win the World Series next year.''
That certainly is a change in attitude from father to son.

This just underscores the slap they gave Torre by offering him only a one-year extension. It's the same team he would have been coaching.
He might be making sense with this particular argument, but it's not jiving with the offer they made Torre.
How is a 1 year deal with incentives exhibiting patience? Whoever the new manager is will get a couple of years to straighten things out. What did Torre get for 12 years service? 1 year to win the world series.
