Rare Event

With two out in the bottom of the second, Gutierrez draws a walk. That's the first free pass Beckett issued this post season.

Update: Beckett strikes out Blake to end the inning, giving him two in the second and three for the game, just like Sabathia.

You know, if Buck and McCarver could stop bitching about Manny Ramirez's post-home-run trot for a moment and let us know what the local rule at Jacobs Field about the yellow line is, then maybe they would actually provide some insight into the situation instead of sounding like a couple of cranky old bats who'd rather kvetch about "today's kids" than actually figure out what the damn rule is and how it should be applied.

You know, the game.

The call was wrong, but Manny was admiring the shot, and it was way to close to admire. He should have been running his ass off out of the box.

Yeah, I can't believe hitting the yellow line wasn't a homer. That is typically the rule in most parks.

Sure, David, Manny shouldn't have been admiring the shot, but face it, the announcers' job isn't to bitch out Manny, but to explain the action, and they did a particularly bad job of that.
