What Happened to Sabathia?

The Indians aren't saying anything concrete about why C.C. Sabathia pitched wildly two games in a row:

Could the long season have taken its toll?

"I don't think it's fatigue," said Wedge. "He's strong, really strong. I think sometimes C.C.'s heart gets in the way. He tries to do too much."

Said Sabathia: "I wasn't throwing a lot of strikes. I wasn't challenging guys. That's what happens."

Given that he came into the post season with about 50 more innings than the previous year, and that he's gone over 200 innings only once before, the fatigue factor sure seems to make sense.

During last night's game McCarver(?) noted that Wedge and the Indian's coaches feel Sabathia is at his best in the low nineties. During the season he was third best in the majors BB/9 innings.

In his twp playoff starts he's been hitting 96 regularly. I think he's simply throwing too hard, with resulting wildness.

Works for me. Carmona/Schilling is the tougher matchup for the Sox...
