Comeback Players
Dmitri Young and Carlos Pena win comeback player of the year in the NL and the AL. Young posted the best OBA of his career, while Pena turned out to be one of the top offensive players in the AL. Congratulations to both!

The Tigers must be proud!
Seriously, Pena was given up for nothing by Detroit, Boston and New York, all of which could really have used his production at 1B.
Actually, Dmitri Young also was let go from Detroit.
I wonder how many times it has happened that 2 players from the same former team have won comeback player of year award at the same time?
Pean was in the Yankees system once - actually, I think it was last year. He never played a game for them, but he was most definitely in their system.
Can I just say that I don't understand this award. In the past few years, there was noticed REemergence of players like Griffey, Giambi, Nomar, and Thome. But neither of these guys were ever really that good to begin with. Pena's best previous year was in 2004 w/ Detroit where he hit 27 homeruns, but besides that we was either awful (.241 BA) or pedestrian (.351 OBP). Slim pickin's this year, I guess.
Gotta disagree with that, Kyle. Nothing says the Comeback Player needs to have previously performed at a certain level. The demons that Da Meat Hook fought to get back in the game and perform at this level this year are nothing short of incredible.

Yeah, I know (I live in Ann Arbor). Imeant the Detroit comment to cover both of them.
