AL Teams Set
The Yankees win 12-4, capturing a berth in the AL Playoffs for the 13th consecutive season. Damon, Jeter and Posada each picked up three hits, and Cano collected two hits, one a homer, and five RBI.
It caps quite a season for New York. They were .500 at the break after being as many as eight games under at the end of June. They've gone 48-24 in the second half to reach 91 wins and likely a wild card slot. Congratulations to the Yankees on a great comeback! It was all offense as the pitching staff posted a higher ERA after the break, but the offense scored 6.5 runs per game, which is more than enough for a team with an ERA around 4.50.
Congratulating the Skanks is like congratulating Microsoft for crushing some young start up. Earlier this season the word was the the Skanks outfield was all but gone. Can't win with these guys, no problem, dump them, pay their ridiculous salaries and buy some new guys at even more ridiculous salaries. Suddenly the Skanks now are all gaga about Damon, Abreu and company. Well maybe we will give them another try and then if they falter we will dump them. Some team, some organization. What does it do for teams like KC or Oakland, etc who cannot possibly compete?
You mean the same A's that made the ALCS last year? And obviously it's the Yankees fault that the Royals have been managed like crap for the last 20 years or so.
I love emains usage: "... the word was..."
Not: Cashman said, or, Torre said. "The word was."
Everyone who actually *follows* baseball knows that the Yankees are committed to the 'youth movement', that they have more homegrown players on their roster than the Twins or the A's (and far more than the Red Sox). If you get your info from the back page of the Boston Herald, you'll end up thinking like an emains.
Well it could be worse...you could be thinking like James. A typical myopic Skank fan. What could be worse than that? Yet another bandwagon jumper. Make yourself feel better by aligning with a team that beats down it's opponents by outbuying everyone. The Royals do the best that they can with the money that they have to spend. The Skanks never have to worry about that. So where is the competitive nature in that. Huh, James? Just like the Skanks you can let your low self esteem be upped by backing the team that buys their way to the top. I am guessing that in real life you are not in a position of power are you James?
Yeah you are right James, my bad. I forgot how Giambi, Rodriguez, Clemens, Matsui, Abreu, Mussina etc were all "homegrown" talent. What was I thinking? Glad I had a knowledgeable guy like you to straighten me out. As you said you *follow* baseball, must be a personal trait, I am guessing that you *follow* everyone. Sort of like sheep in Montana....
