Who Do You Want to See in the World Series?

With Cleveland clinching today and the Chicago Cubs taking a solid lead in the NL Central, I was thinking how much fun it would be for those two teams to meet in the World Series. With the White Sox and Red Sox winning recently, the Cubs and Indians are the longest suffering franchises in baseball. At least one of them would have a burden lifted from the team. Of course, the Padres, Rockies and Brewers never won a World Series, so they would also make a worthy opponent for the Indians, also.

Rematches are also a possibility. The Red Sox and Mets played a dramatic series in 1986, and I bet Boston fans would love to get some revenge on New York. The Yankees were a few outs from defeating the Diamondbacks in 2001 and winning their fourth straight World Series. No doubt the Mets and Padres would like to take a little revenge on the Yankees for 2000 and 1998.

The Angels and Padres gives us an all California World Series, and a good excuse for Fox to start the games at 9 PM, although Mets-Angels would likely be a ratings bonanza, as would the Cubs vs. the Red Sox.

So, which World Series matchup would you most like to see and why?

Update: If the Yankees play the Cubs, maybe A-Rod can call at shot at Wrigley. :-)

At this point, Cubs v. Indians.

Arizona would fulfill my pie-in-the-sky pre-season pick of them winning it all. Really, I had them v. Detroit. But, I'd go Cubs v. Indians.

Hey that was my line from May here at BM, around the time of Arod/stripper-Gate.

I did predict Yanks/Cubs back then, as well as the A-rod called shot, and I got a lot of flack from all y'all hatahs in the combox. Now I'm friggin Nostradamus here.

as a tribe fan, I would love to see indians-anyone, but I think red sox-cubs would be fun as well. or yankees-cubs, with the whole intrigue of whether A-Rod may be in Chicago next season, for life.

Angels vs Padres. I could theoretically (although not practically) attend the entire series.

Angels vs Rockies is my dream Series.

world series matchup i'd like to see

the washington senators v the washington nationals, either in the form of Minn Twins v. Nationals or TX Rangers v. Nationals.

Either one would be awesome. Likewise, the Bosox v. Braves would be an all boston affair.

Always wanted to see the Phils v. As and Cards v. Orioles (browns) for same reasons.

The yankees mets subway series was great-- that is again likely this year and i think would be the best and highest rated matchup. plus it pits the mets pitching against the yanks hitters. it's a classic matchup, especially with pedro, glavine, pettite and clemens all pitching. it's a natural story line.

Yankees vs. anyone, though Cubs would be fun & I think would get the best ratings.

Well, Mets vs. anyone, though I wouldn't mind getting revenge on the Yanks. But if I had to pick a WS matchup that didn't involve the Mets, probably Cubs-Red Sox. It's four years too late to be as intriguing, but I think it wouuld still be kind of cool.

Indians-Rockies. Small markets all around, something that would absolutely piss off the executives at FOX.
