Comment Nicely

MetsBlog.com is being deluged with inappropriate comments. I'm thankful that doesn't happen here. I do get spammers who sometimes make the system run real slow, but over the years software learned to deal with that. The comments left on this blog are usually high quality and well thought out, and I get very little name calling and bad language. Remember, a blog is supposed to be a conversation. When you're writing, make believe the comment is being directed at a person sitting next to you. There's no need to get profane or abusive. That just makes you look like an idiot. So if you're at MetsBlog.com and see that going on, try to move the conversation to a more civil tone. Matt Cerrone's blog deserves the highest quality of comments.

I don't really see see the comments at Metsblog improving. It is the post popular and mainstream of Mets-related blogs, and is thus bound to be the home of the most common sort of comments. It's best to steer clear.

Hey Blastings Thrilledge,

No personal motive in throwing another blog under the bus, eh?

When I read David's post, I figured Phillie Fans were messing with Metsblog. Apparently, the Mets fans can dump in their own house. Stay classy!

well,

matt he has the option of telling people who comment that any comment with bad language or name calling will get deleted

there is no need for all that rudeness

Actually, "Bud Selig," Cerrone's (Metsblog) blogrolling of my site with emphasis and enthusiasm is pretty much the reason for most of my traffic, so I would hardly want to throw Metsblog under the bus. Besides, we serve different areas of Mets blogdom (a wide and varied enterprise it is).

Oh, I didn't mean to sound like I was saying to steer clear of Metsblog! Far from it! I meant that it is best to steer clear of the comments, and I really meant that most for myself. Didn't mean to sound like a jerkoff commenter in a post about jerkoff comments which happens to mention that the very site mentioning these comments is lucky not to have such jerkoff commenters.

I agree, it is not good to post inappropriate comments.
