Kip's a Hit

I didn't realize until I looked at the St. Louis pre-game boxscore what a great season Kip Wells is having at the plate. He should be batting second, not eighth. :-)

I just think it's weird that LaRussa has been batting his pitchers eighth. It just seems to make sense that you would bat your weakest hitters ninth so they would come up less often.

The idea is that the increase in plate appearances by the pitcher is less harmful than the increase in baserunners for the top and middle of the order hitters is helpful.

The idea is that guys like Adam Kennedy can't hit as well as half of the Cardinal's starting pitching.

Although Kip Wells may want to look into going the Ankiel route after this year, given his OPS and his ERA.
